Increased use of screens in coronavirus time accelerates skin aging

After last year's confinement, the following activities were carried out various studies which found that the use of digital devices increased significantly to over nine hours of daily use. Adapting to the "new normal" has required the adoption of telework and online education in the daily lives of millions of workers and students so that they can continue with their activity.

This high exposure to screens not only influences personal well-being (excessive use of technology is associated with lower well-being), but also the blue light emitted by electronic devices has a very negative effect on the skin..

The Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venerealogy (AEDV) already presented at its 47th National Congress scientific evidence on the radiation produced by different blue light emitting sources, such as the sun and screens, and how this can produce a deterioration in the "barrier effect" of the skin.

Exposure to blue light from laptops, cell phones, screens and white LEDs can cause skin damage due to oxidative stress, while causing increased skin dehydration and accelerating the destruction of collagen in the dermis. All this translates into a "skin photoaging"accelerated or premature skin agingThe consequences and signs of a lack of skin tone: flaccidity, wrinkles, lack of luminosity or increased pigmentation are some of its consequences. devitalized skin.

How to recognize devitalized skin?

In the skin devitalization the sweat glands secrete less oil and sweat, the skin becomes drier and dehydrated. A devitalized skin usually shows a lack of luminosity, looks dull and with little elasticity, which makes the signs of flaccidity, spots and wrinkles more pronounced.

It can appear in any type of skin (although contrary to what happens with solar radiation that harms lighter skins more, darker skins and higher phototypes are more sensitive to blue light) and usually occurs after 35 years of age, although it is possible to find it in younger people as a malnourished skin.

How to combat facial skin devitalization?

With the BInary Revitalizing Program we achieve an activation of microcirculation, with the consequent improvement of oxygenation and nutrition. The luminosity is immediate on the face and, session after session, a redensification and remodeling of the facial contour is achieved. Depending on the needs of the skin, it is recommended to accompany the treatment with a specific cosmetic protocol.

BINARY PREMIUM VIDEO

Recommended protocol:

The treatment will always start with a capacitive biostimulation in thermal/hyperthermic mode (depending on the skin condition and sensitivity of the client) for 30 minutes and then move on to a resistive biostimulation in thermal/hyperthermic mode for 10 minutes.

Dermatologists' recommendations

Although the current situation promotes teleworking and distance learning, dermatologists also recommend, as far as possible:

  1. do not overuse screens and protect them with a blue light protection filter
  2. do not use electronic devices in the dark,
  3. correct posture so that the cell phone or tablet is at eye level and at least 20 centimeters away from the eyes,
  4. as well as including a beauty routine rich in antioxidants.

CINIB relies on Binary System for its overweight and obesity treatments.

CINIB, the Balearic Islands Comprehensive Nutrition Center, headed by Dr. Alberto Pagán, is committed to the Binary system to complement its overweight and obesity treatments.

CINIB is a pioneering center in obesity treatments and they have opted for Binary because, thanks to the combination of technologies, they can treat pre-surgical preparation and post-surgical recovery with the same device.

Binary joins the CINIB team as one more member, to help patients in the process of weight loss, skin firming and muscle toning.

Dyspareunia, a silent pathology suffered by 20% women with breast cancer

Today, on Breast Cancer Awareness Day, La Vanguardia reports on a study conducted by our physiotherapist, Anna Abelló, which reveals that 201% of women with breast cancer keep their discomfort to themselves. The first step is to talk about it, and the second is to seek treatment. To this end, our collaborator offers free informational workshops and treats dyspareunia (pain before or after sexual intercourse) using a #binarysystem technology that combines diathermy and electrostimulation.

Can eye bags be removed and is there an alternative to eyelid surgery to open up the eyes?

Binary's specific "Top Zone" program has the solution.

Almost half of Spanish women say that their pace of life has consequences on their appearance. Eye bags are one of the symptoms that betray tiredness and give us a sad appearance. This, together with the progressive drooping of the eyes due to the dermal flaccidity that appears over time, represent the most common concerns.

This concern is also shared by men, and has recently been picked up by the Esquire Magazine.

For this reason, Binary System presents a specific facial program to work on these key aspects.

BAGS

Whether the bags are of aqueous or oily origin, they can be treated in three phases:

  • PHASE 1 Capacitive diathermy for eliminate toxins of retained liquids and to reactivate dermal regeneration.
  • PHASE 2 Resistive diathermy for activating deep drainage.
  • PHASE 3 Electrolifting to further enhance the drainage and toning, which also prevents the appearance of new bags.

(The application times of each diathermy vary depending on whether they are aqueous or oily bags).

DROOPING EYELIDS

Drooping of the eyelids results from weakening of the muscles of the upper eyelid. Occasionally it may be due to a congenital problem or damage to the nerves that control the position of the eyelids. If there is no pathology, we treat the eyelids in three phases:

  • PHASE 1 Capacitive diathermy for activating dermal regeneration and recovery.
  • PHASE 2 Resistive diathermy for activate drainage.
  • PHASE 3 Electrolifting for to activate the contraction and restore the musculature to its optimal tone for eyelid support.

Standard protocol with Binary System

The treatment for eye bags will always start at the following points capacitive mode 12min and, depending on whether the pockets are water- or fat-based, we will work to a greater or lesser extent the resistive mode 6/8min. with pumping and drainage movements. We complement with the Electrolifting 12 min.

In the following tutorial videoThe following are shown application maneuvers of Binary in facial treatments of the upper zone:

Excellent first results of the BInary System pelvic floor treatment trial

The trial highlights the increased satisfaction and physical improvement between manual therapy, diathermy-only therapy, and the therapy that combines electrostimulation and diathermy.

Ana Abelló, a physiotherapist specializing in pelvic floor treatment, in collaboration with Physiotherapy Research Service. Gimbernat University Schools (UAB) is working on the final phase of its application study of the Binary system to treat dyspareunia in breast cancer patients, with very positive results.

What is dyspareunia?

After a long career working with pelvic floor muscle pathologies, Ana Abelló observed that treatments with manual physiotherapy in dyspareunia They were painful, slow, and uncomfortable. This condition is especially common in breast cancer patients and becomes one of the most significant physical concerns after cancer treatments. The onset or development of sexual dysfunctions as a consequence of cancer treatment is multifactorial, and all modalities can increase morbidity. Dyspareunia (pain or discomfort before, during, or after sexual intercourse) is one of the most frequent, and its prevalence is estimated to be around 30-60%.

Data about the study

The preliminary survey conducted with 116 women It reveals some surprising data that has been compiled in the study's presentation poster. 70% of the respondents They admit to suffering from dyspareunia after diagnosis and a 96% of the respondents She says it's seriously affecting her sex life. This data reveals a reality that is still taboo, and it exacerbates the already difficult time in the lives of these patients.

Surprising results

The pilot trial conducted with an experimental group of women between 25 and 75 years old gives off Very good results after 8 sessionsThe actual improvement and perceived improvement (measured by objective professional scales) is greater in the group of patients treated with the combination of diathermy + electrostimulationcompared to the group treated only with manual therapy. The main variables evaluated were sexual function, quality of sexual relations, pain, and health-related quality of life.

Following these very favorable results, continuing the clinical trial is not ruled out. To be continued.
